How can I shrink my pores?
Is there anything I can use to shrink my pores? The short answer is “no,” despite all the promises and claims that skincare companies make. The reason you cannot shrink your pores is that their size is directly related to how much oil your skin produces and that’s genetics.
Well That stinks
So should you just ignore anything that says it's pore-minimizing? Nope. I’m happy to tell you that it is possible to make your pores appear smaller with the proper skincare. <Mobs of happy people dancing in the streets>
The why
Pores appear larger when they are full of debris like excess oil and dead skin. By exfoliating regularly you can make the opening of the pore appear less noticeable. Products that help to regulate oil production can also help protect against excess cellular debris that can stretch pore openings which can make pores look larger.
The solution
Our favorite pore-minimizing products are leave-on moisturizers or serums that contain AHAs or retinol to help keep the skin exfoliating on a daily basis. Not only will you help your pores look better, but you will have the added bonus of softer, brighter, and smoother skin too.
