What is the difference between freckles and age spots?
Freckles are inherited and may fade with age. Freckles are also smaller and appear all over the body.
Age spots are marks that appear on the skin after prolonged sun exposure. They are a sign of UV damage to the skin over a lifetime.
How do we avoid age spots?
Protect and Defend. Protect skin from environmental aggressors and oxidative stress by using antioxidants. Vitamins C and E are excellent antioxidants for topical use and help create a protective buffer to protect healthy cells when free radical scavengers come marauding about to steal electrons. Defend daily with a good quality mineral SPF even if you won't be outside. Why? Because your computer and phone screens light damages your skin just like the sun will.
